Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro – The New Mid Range King

Xiaomi has just recently announced their latest iteration of the Note series, the Redmi Note 10 Pro. Starting from only 230 Euro, the phone packs some serious specs. Xiaomi is offering flagship-level specs and performance from a midrange device.

In this article, I will give you a detailed review of the Redmi Note 10 Pro. I will also give my final verdict on whether you should buy this device or not.

Price Of The Note 10 Pro

Currently, for a very limited period of time, the Note 10 Pro is available at a very lucrative price in the Indian region. You can buy the base 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM variant of Note 10 Pro for around 220 US dollars which would normally cost you about 250 US dollars.

And the 6GB RAM and 128GB ROM variant for which you would normally have to pay 280 US dollars, now costs only 240 US dollars.

For the top of the line 8 GB RAM and 128 GB ROM model, the normal price is 300 US dollars but because of the offer, you can buy it for only 260 US dollars. So if you are planning on buying the Note 10 Pro, I would advise you to get this device before the offer expires.

What’s In The Box?

Unlike other mobile manufacturers, Xiaomi has included all the necessary accessories that you would need in the retail box of the Note 10 Pro. The phone comes with a 33 Watt fast charger, a normal USB Type-C cable, a clear rubber case, and a user manual. It would have been great if Xiaomi had included a screen protector with the box as well.

It is recommended to use the included case for added protection against accidental drops and scratches.

The Design

Xiaomi is offering a very elegant design with the new Note 10 Pro. The phone is primarily constructed out of glass. It follows a glass plastic sandwich design. Because of being a budget device, the frame is constructed entirely out of plastic. The rear of the phone is made out of curved glass which makes the device very comfortable to hold on to.

The rear camera bump is still present but it is not very pronounced. The metal accent around the main camera gives the phone a premium look. Overall, it is very refreshing to see Xiaomi come up with a well-designed camera layout.

On the top of the device, we have got a small hole for the secondary microphone, a cutout for the 3.5mm headphone jack, an IR blaster, and a cutout for the top stereo speaker. On the bottom, there are cutouts for the charging port and the bottom stereo speaker.

Unlike its competitors, Xiaomi is not offering an under-display fingerprint scanner with the Note 10 Pro. Instead, they chose to go with the old but fast and accurate capacitive scanner. The side-mounted fingerprint scanner is embedded with the power button and is able to provide a very fast unlock time.

Connectivity

Sadly, the new note device from Xiaomi does not have support for 5G connectivity. But it does have all the other necessary connectivity though. Redmi Note 10 Pro comes with dual-band WIFI 5, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, NFC, and 2.0 USB Type-C.

The Display

Redmi Note 10 Pro really shines in the display department. Considering its price, the phone offers a fabulous display. The device comes with a 1080 x 2400 Pixels AMOLED display with 395 PPI that also has an HDR10 certification. The 6.67-inch display also has a fast 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate with a maximum of 1200 nits brightness.

The display is able to produce very accurate and sharp colors. And because of having a very bright panel, the outdoor visibility is also very good. The Redmi Note 10 Pro is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It means, the phone can handle minor scratches from keys or coins. If possible, try to use a good screen protector for better protection.

How Is The Performance?

Powered by the 8 nm-based mid-range Snapdragon 732G processor, Redmi Note 10 Pro is able to pull off a pretty decent performance. The phone feels butter smooth to use because of having a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. Redmi Note 10 Pro scores a very impressive 326244 points in the Antutu benchmark.

It can perform daily tasks very nicely and give the user a very good experience. When it comes to gaming, the mid-range snapdragon processor and its relatively old Adreno 618 GPU falls a bit behind. There are noticeable dips and drops in frame rates while playing demanding games like PUBG mobile and COD mobile in high settings. Lowering the graphics settings can easily solve this issue.

All variants of the Redmi Note 10 Pro come with fast UFS 2.2 storage which makes the phone very snappy and responsive. So in a nutshell, the Redmi Note 10 Pro offers very good performance considering its price. Although it is not on par with more expensive flagship devices, it performs way better than any of its current competitors.

Battery Backup

Superior battery backup has always been Xiaomi’s forte. The Redmi Note 10 Pro is no different. The device comes with a massive 5020 mAh non-removable Li-po battery. It can easily get you through a day of heavy usage with the 120Hz refresh rate turned on. You can extend the battery backup even more by reducing the display refresh rate.

Redmi Note 10 Pro also supports an adaptive refresh rate which further helps to extend the battery life. Paired with 33W fast charging support, you can get the battery charged up to 59% in just 30 minutes.

What About The Camera?

The Redmi Note 10 Pro comes with four cameras. A 108 MP, f/1.9 main camera, an 8 MP, f/2.2 ultrawide camera, a 5 MP, f/2.4 macro camera, and a 2 MP, f/2.4 depth-sensing camera. The main 108 MP sensor can capture excellent pictures in daylight. By default, the main camera uses pixel binning to convert the 108 MP images to 12 MP images. But you do get the option to capture images in full 108 MP resolution if you wanted to.

The ultrawide and the depth-sensing camera also perform very well. The sharpness and the color accuracy of all cameras of the Redmi Note 10 Pro are comparable to more expensive flagship devices. The night-time images are not very great if captured with the default mode. Thankfully, the dedicated night mode addresses most of the issues.

The 16 MP, f/2.5 selfie camera is able to capture pretty decent selfies in well-lit environments.
The device is capable of shooting 1080p videos in 60 fps and 4k videos in 30 fps. You do get electronic image stabilization or EIS while shooting videos in 1080p but sadly, there is no support for EIS during recording 4K videos.

The UI

Redmi Note 10 Pro is running on android 11 based MIUI 12. The UI is very smooth and takes full advantage of the fast refresh rate. MIUI 12 is a highly customizable UI. You have the option to choose between many themes and wallpapers.

The feature-rich easy to use UI of this device definitely stands out from its competitors. There is no noticeable bloatware in this version of MIUI. It also has full support for all Google features. Occasionally, MIUI 12 tends to display annoying ads in the UI, but you can easily turn them off.

Final Verdict

The latest Note device from Xiaomi is very compelling. It boasts an excellent display, has a very good camera, and provides outstanding battery backup. Moreover, it also has a very uncommon feature for a phone that is this cheap. It has an IP rating. Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro has an official IP53 rating meaning it can withstand minor splash from water and is resistant to dust.

So should you buy this phone? In my opinion, if you are looking for an all-around device that will not break your bank, then you should definitely buy this device.
